Wow, it’s been a long time.
I’ve been so busy lately, especially with working three jobs, filling out med school apps, and trying to keep my sanity.
Just an update on my new workout schedule:
I’ve started weightlifting.
I mean, I’ve always done work with dumbbells and the machines at the gym, but this is the first time I’ve actually done work with barbells and the such.
I’ve been doing squats, bench presses, overhead presses, etc. These are things that I’ve never done before.
And guess what?
I’ve never felt better about my body.
I can feel the muscles tightening. My arms don’t jiggle anymore. I can see the muscles in my thighs. It’s not just about being skinny —- it’s about being fit and healthy.
One day, a very thin Asian girl walked into the weight room. She was walking around with her friend, giggling and looking at the machines. Here I was trying to do some pull-ups and dips. She blatantly stared at me and laughed out loud.
I wanted to go over and add a black eye to those A&F sweats and Coach tennis shoes she was wearing. Still, I comforted myself with the knowledge that I could probably kick her ass five times over without any strenuous effort.
You may be skinny and thin, but being lean, fit and healthy is so much better than that. Ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude.
Gah weight gain.
My clothes are getting tighter again. I think it’s because i haven’t been drinking enough water, been stressed, not getting enough sleep, and my injured ankle has been making it hard to run.
I’ve been getting to the gym alright, but my usual 3-mile runs have turned into 1.2 mile runs. Sigh.
